The baby name survey has proven to be enormously successful -- if you haven't voted yet, then check it out to the left.

----------------------

Out of the blue the other day my old friend Gerard called me. We haven't really spoken in at least three or four years, maybe more. It was sure great the hear his voice. He told me that he was driving by my parents' house in Canada and saw my dad outside, he stopped and had a beer with him, and the next thing you know Gerard's calling Japan. Very thoughtful guy. He also passed my email around to all of our old group of friends (THE HERD!), and now the reminiscent, how-ya-been-buddy letters are pouring in.

The coolest thing happened the other day -- some of you aren't going to believe this: I got a phone call from Wired magazine. They said they really liked Hunkabutta, and wanted to hire me as a photographer for an upcoming feature that they're writing on Japan. So, I went out and rented a top of the line Canon digital camera, and have been taking seedy, pop culture pictures constantly for the past three days.

Let's hope that some of shots make the cut and get published. If they do, you can bet I'll be announcing it here.

Well, 'Blue Martini Bootcamp' is over, so things should be getting back to normal soon.

As I mentioned in my last post, it's time for a new survey. As for the old one, it looks like "Candids" won the day in terms of photo style popularity. I expected that, they're my favorite too, but I was a little disappointed that "geometrical patterns" did so poorly -- I really like taking those.

Now, as to our next survey, a name for my soon to be born child. My wife and I decided not to know the sex of the baby before birth, so right now we don't know if it's a boy or a girl. We have a few girls names which we both really like (I'll keep those to myself for now), but are really stumped for boys names -- I'm hoping that you can help us out.

My new hunkabutta survey, to your left on the page, is where you can have your say as to the future identity of my son.

Be honest!

Blue Martini training is going great. Today we were writing custom Java classes (kind of like mini programs).

I think that the Alumni club thing that I talked about last week is going to be a no go -- I really want to do it, but with the baby coming, and with work, I just don't have the time.

Karen's belly is swelling to titanic proportions -- our baby, at seven months in the womb, already weighs more then a lot of Japanese babies at birth. Karen's get'n pretty nervous. I guess I should have told her before we got married that big babies run in my family -- my uncle Phil was born at 15 pounds.

We're still having problems deciding on a boy's name. I think what I might do is put up a new hunkabutta survey with a few of the suggestions that we've received from family and friends, and let you, dear hunkabutta reader, decide on my future son's name.

Look for it next posting.

This week has been both exciting and incredibly busy.

I've been attending 'Blue Martini Bootcamp' -- a two week intensive web-application training course. I'm in byte-code heaven. Unfortunately, it, and Karen's advancing pregnancy, hasn't left me with much time for my usual hunkabutta photo-wanking.

Have no fear though, after next week I'll be back in force with my usual array of Tokyo photos.

Until later,...
