Bye bye Julie, it was nice having you with us, and thanks
for doing all the dishes.
-------------------------------
It's just been confirmed -- my mother is
coming to Tokyo on September 7. Should be
fun. It'll be her first time in Asia, and
actually her first time outside of Canada
not on a package tour. It's pretty brave
of her I think. Now she'll finally know what
it's like to be one of those weird looking
"foreigners" -- an experience that
I think a lot of people of Anglo-Saxon (read
White) descent back in 'multi-cultural' Canada
should get.
She's quite excited about seeing baby Jack.
My father told me that she keeps ruining
all of the digital-picture print-outs of
the baby by kissing them too much.
I'm pretty excited too -- It'll be
two more
weeks where I don't have to do the
dishes.
Thanks Mom.

For your information, the top picture in
today's post is of a guy I saw last week
who was shuffling along on the thin ledge
of an office building, on the sixth floor,
wiping the windows with a rag, and get this,
he wasn't even wearing a safety harness.
I guess he had a lot of faith in his grip
on that window frame. I don't know what this
idiot was thinking, usually people here in
Japan are very safety conscious. My suspicion
is that his boss wanted him to quit (sometimes
it's difficult to fire people here) and so
he just gave him some incredibly dangerous
and crappy job to do.

First of all, a big congratulations to Fred
of Fredshead.org on the birth of his daughter Sophie Raine La Senna, she's going to be such a cute little princess.
Also, congratulations to our house guest
Julie, Karen's sister, on her birthday (Saturday).
I won't say how old she is, in case she wants
to lie about it later.
For Julie's birthday, Karen and I took her
to the Hanezawa Garden restaurant, the same
place, some of you may remember, where Amanda
had her going away party a little while ago. The place was great
as usual -- torch-lit patio, set amongst
the pines on the grounds of what appears
to be an old family manor. Afterwards, we
took Jack to his first Karaoke box, unfortunately
he slept through the whole thing, but we
have some pictures, which are shown in today's
post.
Lastly, a warm hello to my old friend Todd
back in Canada who recently discovered hunkabutta.
The only good thing about losing touch with
people is getting to know them all over again.
And with that little platitude, I bid you
farewell...

It's out! It's finally out! The September
issue of Wired magazine that published my pictures. If you get a
chance to check it out, mine are the pictures
on pages 118-119 (with a few exceptions)
and the manga store picture on page 123.
The Hello Kitty novelty items on page 121 were supplied
by Karen, my wife (a.k.a. Karen Maneater).
Tonight Karen, Julie, and baby Jack are coming
down to Shibuya to meet me after work. We're
going to go to dinner somewhere around here,
and then go to our old local pub, O'Carolan's,
where hopefully we will get to introduce
Jack to a lot of our old friends. Should
be fun -- expect some pictures.
---------------------------------
Site news:
The baby gallery is finally up! If you check it out you'll
be able to see baby Jack pictures that have
already been posted on Hunkabutta, plus a
few new bonus pictures for the new gallery.
This gallery shall be updated on a fairly
regular basis.

Today I was looking at my friend's site,
Fredshead.org, and he mentioned the camera that he uses
to take the great pictures that he does --
a Canon PowerShot G1. I checked out the camera specs online and
now I want one myself, real bad.

Today's pictures are more 360 degree panoramic
views -- have a look!

Well, Karen's sister Julie arrived on Friday
and it's been giddy, non-stop, girlie-sister-chatter
ever since. Jack and I have taken to retiring
to the bedroom early to savor the silence.
Julie's been a great help so far. I got to
sleep in on Saturday for what seemed like
the first time in ages. Unfortunately, I
soon realized that it was only the first
time in three weeks -- only three weeks of
all-hours infant care, and it already seems
like a life time. I try not to let it get
me down.
Conversely, I'm starting to think that Karen's
'happy gland' is somehow connected to her
jaw because she's been in great spirits ever
since her sister arrived and the gabfest
began.

I don't know what the point of this is, but it's pretty cool.
