In case you're interested, last night we
went to the Farm Grill with Makis and Mhairi
again. I mentioned this place before -- remember?
It's the all-you-can-eat American style buffet,
the only place in Japan where I ever saw
a lot of obese people.
I should have taken some pictures for
you,
but at the time I never thought about
it.
Sorry, maybe next time.

In other news, Jack is starting to crawl
a little bit. The only problem is... he only
goes backwards.
I'm not sure why he only goes backwards,
but I'm guessing that he's taking after
his
mother.

I'm really enjoying the new camera.
It seems
hard to take a bad shot with it.
This weekend I should get a chance
to really
experiment with it and I'm looking
forward
to that.
Hope you have a good weekend too, and for
your viewing pleasure I'll leave you with
Asian Pride.

Finally! My new camera has arrived.
If you can believe it, I almost lost it again
in the mail (FedEx), it was a pretty close
call but Karen saved the day.
She kept checking up on the package using
FedEx's online tracking system and discovered
that it was undelivered because of an improper
address (We gave it to the seller three times!).
The gumbas at the store addressed it to 916
Minami Senju, Tokyo, which is pretty much
the equivalent of addressing it to 916 Brooklyn,
New York.
Anyway, she called up FedEx and after
battling
with the sales rep for a while got
the camera
redelivered to our house and it was
there
waiting for me when I got home from
work
on Monday.
I love the camera.
However, it's going to take me some time
to figure out how to use it well.
Today's pictures are all the result
of me
fooling around with the different settings
and positions and trying to make them
work.

A little bit of good news today -- my lost
credit card miraculously appeared in the
mail on Friday. I have no idea why it took
so long to get here, but no matter, all is
now well in the land of credit and Hunkabutta
is no longer in danger of going off line.
The new camera is still not here though.
However, when we checked the FedEx site this
morning it told us that the camera was put
on the delivery van this morning.
I love the FedEx tracking system. It's
so
wonderfully exact and accessible. I
wish
there were more services like that
on the
web.
Hey, did you know that the FedEx logo is
often used as an example in logo-making tutorials.
It appears straightforward, but if you look
closely you can see that they made it in
such a way that the space between the 'E'
and the 'x' forms an arrow pointing right,
thus giving the viewer a subconscious impression
of motion and expediency.
If you don't believe me, check it out here.
